The French Research Center of the Arabian Peninsula (CEFREPA) organised a seminar titled: Archéozoologie à Dadan (AlUla, Arabie Saoudite): Comment les ossements relient l’histoire de la vie du passé au présent? By Dr. Hervé Monchot.
Dr. Hervé Monchot is an archaeozoologist attached to UMR 8167 Orient & Méditerranée. His research project, entitled “Zoarchaeology at the service of modeling the meat diets of the Arabian Peninsula, during Antiquity and the Middle Ages. Sociocultural (religious) and environmental implications”, aims in particular to fill this gap through study of bones from several archaeological sites (Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Oman, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia). Currently, its research activity is particularly oriented towards Saudi Arabia by collaborating on numerous archaeological missions including that of Dadan (AlUla).
