Zaineb BEN LAGHA
Lecturer in modern Arabic literature at Sorbonne Nouvelle University, Zaineb Ben Lagha is deputy director of the Center for Arab and Oriental Studies (USN). She is currently on a CNRS delegation to CEFREPA at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. His research themes are the following: the historical novel; the figure of the marginal; referential space in the contemporary Arabic novel of the Arabian Peninsula.
As part of her CNRS delegation, she is interested in the way in which the contemporary novel of the Arabian Peninsula makes it possible to understand the process of constructing a “national” or “regional” identity (golfiote, khaleejness), or even to contribute alongside other mediators (newspapers, publishing houses, book fairs, best novel prizes, etc.) in the development of a national or regional narrative. She also studies the place that this contemporary novel devotes to external (foreign residents) or internal (minorities) otherness and the roles that the latter can play in this process of identity construction.
